Tigers Swept by SAC Leading Texas Wesleyan

Fort Worth, Texas.- The Tigers baseball team took on the Texas Wesleyan University Rams this past weekend in Texas. The games were supposed to be played in McPherson but were relocated due to expected poor weather conditions. The Tigers still served as the home team in the series.

Game 1 was a pitchers duel that had to be settled in extra innings. The Rams got on the board in the 5th and then the Tigers in the 6th before holding a 1-1 score into the 9th inning. Nick Julian threw 8 great innings but could not go back out for the 9th due to pitch count. The Rams scratched a run across on a sacrifice fly and then held the Tigers in the bottom half of the inning to take game 1 of the series 2-1.

In Game 2 the Rams offense took over in the back half of the game, the Tigers led 2-1 going into the 4th but the Rams brought 11 runs across in the final 4 innings and held the Tigers to only 1 more run, clinching the series win by a score of 11-3, ending the Tigers streak of five straight series wins.

The Tigers got off to a hot start in the series finale, scoring 3 in the 2nd inning on a couple errors and a sacrifice fly, and then 2 more in the 5th on a 2 RBI single from Braedon Ulrich to lead 5-1.  Unfortunately the Rams offense once again began to take over later in the game, scoring 11 total runs the rest of the way to lead 12-5 in the 9th. The Tigers got a couple runs back but would fall 12-7, suffering their first conference sweep of the season.

The Tigers are now 19-21 (13-11) on the season and are still in good position to finish in the top 4 in conference play, likely just needing 1 win or 2 wins against Nelson University in Texas this upcoming weekend in the final series of the regular season. The games will be streamed on the SAC Sports Network and Urban Edge Network.
