Bobcats Overwhelm Tigers with Offensive Surge

McPherson, Kan. - The Central Christian College of Kansas Women's Basketball team continued their conference play as they hosted College of the Ozarks on Saturday. The Tigers came into the contest looking to erase their 5 game losing streak while the Bobcats were winners of three of their last four.

The Bobcats started strong but the Tigers hung right there with them, the Bobcats led 21-18 on 42% shooting while the Tigers were aggressive and made it to the free throw line plenty in the first quarter to cut the deficit to 3. The offense for the Bobcats exploded in the second quarter as they 26 points on 61% shooting including going 4-6 from beyond the arc in the quarter. The Tigers trailed at halftime 47-33.

Looking for a momentum change out of half, the Tigers put their starting 5 back out there and the Bobcats offense picked up where it left off. The Tigers could not answer as the Bobcats capitalized on turnovers, scoring 26 points off turnovers in the game.

The Tigers would go on to lose the contest 92-56 as Logan Jones and Keara Mattingly of College of the Ozarks had 27 and 26 points respectively. Logan Jones was 5-8 from beyond the arc as well.

Offensively, the Tigers were led by Kylee Jones as she had 11 points and 4 rebounds. Jenny Johnson chipped in 9, a season high for her and Cristina Laudan added 8 points and 12 rebounds.

The Tigers move to 6-20 overall and 2-18 in SAC play. They will close out the regular season at home this weekend as they welcome Nelson and Texas Wesleyan to McPherson. They face Nelson on Thursday at 6pm and Texas Wesleyan at 2pm on Saturday. Both games will be on the Urban Edge Network and SAC Sports Network.
