McPherson, Kan. - The Central Christian College of Kansas Women's Basketball team continued SAC play this weekend as they welcomed Oklahoma City University to town. Both teams were in search of a win that would help propel them up in the SAC standings.
Oklahoma City jumped out to a sizeable lead after the first quarter, they led 22-5 as they were 4-7 from beyond the arc. The Tigers clawed back, outscoring the Stars 18-7 and the halftime score would be 29-23 in favor of the Stars.
Both offenses continued to flourish in the 3rd quarter as each team put up 21 points as the Tigers continued to seek out ways to get back in the game. The Stars would continue to hold off the Tigers and go on to win the game 71-63.
The Stars defense also proved to be relentless as they forced 13 Tiger turnovers and converted 6 points off those turnovers. The Tigers capitalized on Oklahoma City's 18 turnovers and converted 11 points off turnovers. The difference seemed to come in the rebounding batte, the Stars outrebounded the Tigers 43-33 which gave them more opportunities on both ends of the floor.
The Tigers offensive presence continued to recieve a boost in the form of
Chloe Clevenger who came off the bench again this game. She contributed 10 points and four assists on the evening. The Tigers also had two scorers in double figures,
Charmayne Marshall and
C'Niyah Williams. Williams also led the Tigers with seven rebounds, and four of them came on the offensive glass.
The loss moves the Tigers to 5-11 (1-9 SAC), the Tigers stay at home to host John Brown University on Thursday, January 15th at 6:00PM. The game can be seen streaming live on the Urban Edge Network.
