Rainout Ends Series Early, Tigers Drop Two to the Bobcats

McPherson, Kan. – The Tiger Baseball team welcomed the College of the Ozarks Bobcats to town on Thursday and Friday. Only two of the three scheduled games were played because of non-stop rain Friday morning.

Game 1, L 6-14
The Tigers showed their grit during this game, trailing for most of the game until they were able to tie it up in the 7th inning. To get to that point, the Tigers slugged two homeruns by Iker Muniz and Noel Aquino and capitalized on multiple Bobcat errors. After trading scoreless half innings in the 8th, the Bobcats struck for 8 runs in the 9th inning to take a commanding 14-6 lead. They would go on to win the first game by this score.

Game 2, L 2-3
Nick Julian received the start on the mound for the Tigers in game 2. Julian allowed 2 runs in the 3rd inning after a homerun by the Bobcats gave them the early lead. The Tigers responded in the next inning after Noel Aquino hit his second homerun of the series to cut the deficit to one. The Bobcats were threatening in the 5th and would take advantage of a passed ball to extend their lead to 3-1. In the 6th, the Tigers would tack on one run but could not tie the game. They would go on to drop this contest 3-2.

The Tigers (14-22, 6-14), will now turn their attention to the Collegiate Cup as they are set to take on McPherson College on Wednesday, April 9th at 1:00PM. The game will be played at McPherson's field located at 1000 S Centennial Street in McPherson. There has not been a date or time announced for the makeup of the final game in the series against College of the Ozarks. Stay tuned for further updates!
