Tigers Swept by Aggies in Goodwell

Goodwell, Okla. – The Tigers were back in conference play to face the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State over the weekend.

Game 1, L 1-10
The opening game of the series saw Senior Madalyn Griffin get the start in the circle. The Tigers were unable to string anything together despite tallying 7 hits in the game. Ashley Vaccaro went 3 for 3 and scored the lone run for the Tigers in the 5th. Errors would be the story of the game for the Tigers as they led to runs and scoring opportunities for the Aggies. The Tigers would drop game 1, 10-1.

Game 2, L 7-17
The Tigers looked to bounce back and the offense was able to get on the board and tie the game at 1-1 in the second inning thanks to a Paris Tate RBI single. A big 3rd inning for the Aggies saw them extend their lead to 9-1. The Tigers started chipping away in the 4th inning after scoring 4 runs on a fielder's choice and a bases clearing triple by Paige Major. OPSU would answer with two runs in the bottom of the 4th and score 6 more in the 5th to win the game in 5 innings by a score of 17-7.

Game 3, L 13-14
Saturday presented no shortage of scoring in the first game. The Tigers got the scoring started in the 1st with two walks and a hit to net two runs. The Aggies responded in the 2nd by tallying 3 hits and extending their lead to 5-2 after two innings. After another run from the Tigers, the Aggies tallied 6 runs in the 3rd to make it an 11-4 game. The Tigers would put up 6 runs in the 5th and 6th innings to cut the lead to just 1. With an 11-10 ballgame, the Aggies made sure to not go down without a fight. A run in the 6th made it a two run game. Two hits for the Tigers and moving runners over netted two runs to take a 13-12 lead into the bottom of the 7th. OPSU would string together multiple hits to score the two runs needed to walk off the game and win 14-13.

Game 4, L 0-8
The bats for the Tigers went silent as they could only muster 4 hits in the series finale. The Aggies took advantage of timely hits and errors by the Tigers to extend their lead to 7-0 by the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 5th, the Aggies scored their 8th run to win the game 8-0 over the Tigers in 5 innings.

The Tigers (7-27, 3-21), continue their conference push as they welcome Mid-America Christian University into McPherson on Tuesday, April 15th at 5pm and 7pm. The games will be streamed live on the SAC Sports Network.
