Tigers Fall to Eagles in Oklahoma

Bethany, Okla. – The Tigers traveled down to Bethany, Oklahoma for a four game conference series with the Southwestern Christian University Eagles over the weekend.

Game 1, L 2-3
The Tigers struck first and quick as a Paige Major RBI single got the scoring started in the first inning. After SCU tied up the game, the Tigers took a 2-1 after an SCU error but would relinquish the lead in the bottom of the 6th. Madalyn Griffin was in the circle for the Tigers and threw 6 1/3 solid innings allowing just 3 runs on 4 hits and striking out 7 Eagles. The Tigers would lose the game in the bottom of the 7th as the Eagles were able to walk it off after an error which led to the winning run coming around to score.

Game 2, L 0-10
Looking to bounce back, the Tigers started senior Chelsie Hirtler in the circle for the second game of the day. The Tiger bats were unable to pick up where they left off as they were unable to plate a run in the second game. SCU broke the game open in the 3rd inning, plating 8 runs to give them a 9-0 advantage. They would tack in a run in the 4th to extend their lead to 10-0. The Tigers were unable to push a run across and this game would be called due to run rule after 5 innings.

Game 3, L 0-9
Saturday hoped to prove different for the Tigers as Madalyn Griffin once again got a start for the Tigers. After a slow offensive start for both teams, SCU tagged Griffin for 6 runs in the 3rd inning to give the Eagles a sizeable lead. The Eagles would tack on two more to give them a 9-0 lead and would go on to win this game in 5 innings as the Tigers could not find anything offensively.

Game 4, L 1-10
The finale saw Miranda Tegtmeier start for the Tigers and the Eagle bats picked up right where they left off, tallying 5 runs in the first inning. The Tigers would plate a run in the 4th after an Abby Schleisman RBI single. This would be the lone bright spot for the Tigers as they allowed 5 more runs in the bottom of the 4th and would go on drop the game in 5 innings.

The Tigers (1-13, 0-8) return home to face Southwestern College in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 18th. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm. The games will be streamed on the SAC Sports Network.
