Langston, Okla. – The Central Christian College of Kansas Men's Basketball team is back in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament for the second time in two years. As the 7
th seed, they are set to travel to Langston to face the 2
nd seed and 21
st ranked Lions in the opening round. Tip-off is slated for 8pm and it will be streamed live on the SAC Sports Network.
The Tigers were 16-12 in the regular season, with a 12-12 record in conference play. The Tigers dropped their two regular season matchups to the Lions. The Lions finished the regular season with a record of 21-7 and 17-7 in conference play.
The Tiger offense is spearheaded by
Chris Whitten, who averaged 19.7 points per game and finished 2
nd in the SAC in scoring, 3
rd in 3PM, 5
th in FTM and had 11 20-point games in conference play. Defensively, the Tigers are anchored by
Andre Shelby who is 3
rd in the SAC in both Total Blocks and BPG averaging just over one block a game. Also,
Jevarrick Butler aides on both sides of the ball averaging 15.9 PPG and currently stands 2
nd in the SAC in Steals per game and has amassed 43 steals on the year. This leads to extra possessions and opportunities for the Tigers.
