McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College of Kansas Women's Volleyball team competed at home this weekend against Oklahoma City University and Southwestern Christian University. Coming in, the Tigers were still in search of their first win of the season.
Friday, the Tigers took on the Stars of Oklahoma City and struggled to get anything going all night. Multiple runs by the Stars prevented Central from gaining any momentum. The Tigers would lose in straight sets, 17-25, 14-25, and 10-25.
The Tigers looked to bounce back Saturday as they faced Southwestern Christian University. They started out slow, going down 11-4 in the set before going on a 7-1 run to pull within one point in the first set. The Tigers took advantage later in the set regaining the lead, 21-20 after multiple errors from SCU. Central would take the first set 26-24.
Being up 1-0 gave the Tigers some life but they again started out slow against the Eagles. Going down 7-4, they went on an 9-1 run to take a 13-8 lead in the second set. Another 6-2 run by the Tigers would give them a 23-18 lead and on the verge of taking a two set to none lead in the match. The Tigers would finish the job in the second set, taking it 25-22 and going up 2-0 in the match.
Poised to get their first win of the season, the Tigers came out of the gate hot, scoring 8 of the first 10 points. This set would be all Central as they took the third set, 25-13 to win the match in straight sets.
