Newton, Kan. – The Central Christian College Men's Golf team wrapped up their season by competing in the Sooner Athletic Conference Golf Tournament. The tournament was held at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan. this past Monday and Tuesday. The first day was a long, grueling day of 36 holes and the second day held the final 18.

After the first day, Central Christian posted scores of 301 and 290 to put them in fourth place heading into day two. Central was led on day one by Tyler Hoxie who put up solid rounds of 69 and 73 for a total of 142. He would be in 4th place overall going into the final round. This was huge for the Tiger Golf Program as they were in the final pairing as a team for the first time since joining the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Day two saw a majority of the teams struggle as the wind picked up throughout the day. The Tigers as a team posted a final round 327 which would drop them back into 6th place. Tyler Hoxie, who started the day in 4th place, capped off his tournament with a final round 78 for a final total of 220. Hoxie was two under par in his last three holes which moved him up into a tie for 5th place.

The tie for 5th would secure All-Tournament Team honors for Hoxie. This was the first time in school history that Central had a golfer make All-Tournament Team in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

This was a big step forward for the program and Coach Moody looks to continue this upward trend next year as the majority of his team is returning in the fall.
