The Central Christian College men's basketball teams' season is not yet finished. It is March, and that means post season tournament action. Thanks to Central Christian College of Kansas' dual affiliation with the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), the Tigers will get to take part in at least one more post season tournament.
CCCK will be the host site for this year's NCCAA Central Region men's basketball tournament to be played March 13 -14. The tournament field consists of three teams, CCCK, College of the Ozarks (Bobcats), and Mission University (Patriots). Mission University just recently went through a name changed, they were formerly Baptist Bible College. Mission University is the top seed, the Tigers are seeded second, and College of the Ozarks is third.
The tournament gets underway on Wednesday evening with a 7:00 match-up featuring the Tigers and College of the Ozarks. The winner will take on Mission University at 7:00 pm Thursday evening. Thursday's winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCCAA national tournament, hosted by Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana March 20-23.
The Tigers and Bobcats are familiar foes. The two teams were both in the MCAC which folded back in 2015, and then both joined the A.I.I. conference for a couple of season. Going back to 2006, the Tigers are just 4-24 against the Bobcats, but the Tigers did win the last meeting between the two squads back in 2017, 81-58. This season, the Tigers and Bobcats have just one similar opponent on their schedule, the Kansas Christian College Falcons. The Bobcats played them twice, winning both games, the Tigers played them once at home, winning 93-78.
