Winfield, Kan. - The Cross Country teams traveled to Southwestern College to compete in the NAIA Mid-States Classic. Chloe Clevenger continued her strong season as she finished 4th overall, and breaking a Central Christian College school record for 6000 meters, a record previously held by Alex Del Bosque from 2016. Clevenger's time of 25:00 also hit the NCCAA National Qualifier for 6000 meters. This is Clevenger's 2nd straight top 10 finish. Payton Rice (28:22) followed with a 19th place finish in an outstanding race where she was able to show her strength passing 4 runners down the stretch to make it to the award stand.

On the Men's Side, Dalton Clark (33:19), finished 33rd place, followed by Philip Soclo in a personal record of 34:25, finishing 34th.

Coach's Comment: I was thrilled with how this race went. We've been prepping our women to be prepared for the jump from 5k to 6k, and we handled it beautifully. I felt this was Chloe and Payton's best races of the season. It's great to see us running like this during our Championship Phase in our season!

The Cross Country teams will next travel to Bethany, Oklahoma to compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship. Women's 6000 meters race starts at 10am, and the Men's 8000 meters will race at 10:45am at Eldon Lyon Park.
