Fort Worth, Texas - At Texas Wesleyan's Martin Field, the Central Christian Tigers were able to get their 1
st SAC win of the season and 5
th Win overall. A significant win In Coach Josh Macharia's Career as this is the most season wins for Women's Soccer since 2021, and most in a season in Macharia's Central tenure.
It was the Rams who came out strong getting after goalie
Celena Vanhaezebrouck early. Three shots were saved by Vanhaezebrouck, one diving deflection, a catch off a free kick in the 4
th minute, and again in the 5
th min, off a corner kick, keeping the score 0-0 early. But it was only a minute later, the Tigers turned the attack and a nice deflection pass from
Amaleigh Mattison to
Baylee Smith who made a great cross pass to
Camri Coker, whose shot deflected of the goalie, and
Amaleigh Mattison came up with the rebound, and drilled it into the goal at 6:46 of the 1
st half, her 1
st goal of the season.
The 2
nd half went much like the 1
st, as the Rams were the aggressor early with a handful of shots at goal, but Vanhaezenbrouck came through with the saves, to record her 3
rd career shutout. The Tigers were brilliant defensively as they were able to hold off an attacking Rams offense, in what was a close and entertaining contest.
Following the game, an excited Coach Macharia said, "The women played real well. They showed great heart and determination to keep Texas Wesleyan at bay. It was a True team win!"
