Plainview, Texas – The Central Christian College Men's Basketball team was in action this past Thursday down in Plainview, Texas taking on the Wayland Baptist University Pioneers. The Tigers looked to continue playing good basketball coming off a close win against Texas Wesleyan.
The first half of the game was evenly matched as the Tigers trailed 36-43 going into the second half. The offense for the Tigers exploded in the second half, putting up 45 points as a team. Shooting 50% from the floor in the second half is hopefully a sign of good things to come. This would not be enough however, as Wayland would keep pace and narrowly take the game from the Tigers, 85-81.
Key Statistic
The Tigers committed 12 turnovers, and this would be their undoing as Wayland only allowed 5 turnovers. The Pioneers generated 19 points off Tiger turnovers while the Tigers were only able to score 2 points off turnovers.
By the Numbers
The Tigers were 28 of 60 (47%) from the floor.
The Tigers hit just 9 of 26 (35%) attempts from deep.
From the charity stripe, they made 16 of 19 (84%).

Coach Quote
"This was a tough one. We really played a fairly solid game versus a really good opponent in Wayland Baptist. They are well coached, very talented and physical. I was proud of the guys fight and resiliency throughout the game. We were up 7 with four minutes to go and couldn't hold on. They made a switch defensively and went to a zone and we went cold on the offensive side of the ball during that last stretch. We still had a shot to win it with under 10 seconds and it didn't go in. We just need to keep in the fight and again, improve on not giving up lengthy runs throughout the game. We are giving ourselves chances every night, just need to continue to mature and close the close games out." - Coach Tony Romero
