McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College women's basketball team played their first home game of the new year on Thursday night, hosting the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, and falling to the Drovers, 96-44.
It was a tough night offensively for the Tigers, only scoring in double digits in two of the four quarters. The Drovers led 23 to 9 after the first ten minutes of action. The Tigers got some things going offensively early in the second period, and cut the Drover lead to 11 with just over 6 minutes remaining in the half. The Drovers however, ended the quarter on a 17-3 run to go into the locker room with a 47-22 advantage.
Out of the break, it was back and forth for the first couple of minutes, but the Drovers went on a 21-0 run to blow the game even more wide open. By the end of the third period, the 25 point halftime deficit the Tigers faced, had become 49, 79-30.
In the 4
th, the Tigers were much more competitive. The Droves outscored the Tigers 17-14 in the 4
th, making the final score 96-44.
Two Tigers scored in double figures, led by
Hallee Winsea who scored 19, with six three pointers.
