Salina, Kan. – The Central Christian College Golf teams competed at the Central Plains Invitational in Salina, Kansas this past Monday and Tuesday. Coming off of a runner-up finish two weeks ago at the Central Kansas Classic, the Tigers were poised to continue their strong play. The Men played 54 holes consisting of 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. The Women played 18 each day for a total of 36 holes.
On Monday, the conditions were about as perfect as you could ask for with a sunny day and just a light breeze. The Tigers were paced by
Max Gardner who fired an opening round of even par 70. As a team, they posted a 299 for the first round and looked to improve on that in the second round.
The second 18 was a bit of a struggle for the Tigers as they would fall back a bit with a team score of 305 for the second round. Freshman
Jacob Montano had the low score of the second round for the Tigers with a 2-over par 72.
Day 2 of the tournament was similar to the first as the Tigers could not get any momentum going. The Tigers shot 307 as a team giving them a 3 day total of 911.
Max Gardner once again shot the low round of the day for the Tigers with a 3-over par 73. Aside from the hiccup of a 78 in the second round, Max was the low man for the Tigers with a three day total of 221.
Below are the rest of the Men's scores:
On the Women's side, playing 18 each day,
Parris Collins and
Landri Shelton competed for the Tigers as individuals. Parris was the low scorer on the Women's side with a 107 on day 1 and a 104 on day 2 for a two day total of 211.
