McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College baseball team lost a heartbreaker at home on Tuesday to the Bethany College Swedes 11-10.
Bethany got the scoring going with a run in the top of the first. The Tigers responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead. The Swedes retook the lead in the top of the second with a pair of runs, but a five run inning by the Tigers in their half of the second, fueled by a three run homerun by
Carlos Gusman, gave them a 7-3 lead.
The Swedes would not go away. They cut the Tiger lead in half with two runs in the top of the third, then took a two run lead, 9-7, with four more in the top of the fifth. The Tigers tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, then took the lead 10-9 an inning later. Unfortunately that was all the scoring the Tigers could muster the rest of the way, but the Swedes added a solo run in the eighth and ninth innings to secure a one run victory.
