Winfield, Kan. – The Central Christian College men's and women's golf teams were back on the links this week, playing in the Jinx Invitational hosted by Southwestern College at the Winfield Country Club in Winfield, Kansas.

The Tiger men sent two teams to the event, and both had exceptional results in the 54 hole event. The Tiger "A" team won then event with a three round score of 889, their third best total in 2022-23. They opened on Monday with a 298, then followed that up with a 297 in round two. On Tuesday, they continued to improve, finishing with a 294.

Noah Fiks and Jerry Montano tied for first, both shooting a three round total of 220, one stroke ahead of their next lowest competitor. Fiks would ultimately be crowned the tournament champion in a scorecard playoff. Tyler Hoxie also finished in the top five, landing in fourth place with a 224.

The Tiger "B" team finished the tournament in fifth place with three rounds that totaled 950. They were paced individually by Santiago Nieto who shot 233, which was good enough to land him in a tie for 16th place overall.

"I am very pleased with how we performed as a team at this event," said Coach Moody. "The conditions on both mornings were cold and windy, but the guys handled it well. We also showed our resiliency in the last 2 rounds. At one point in round 3 we were +10 as a team, but we played the last 7 holes -4 as a team to finish +6 on the round."

The Tiger women didn't have enough for a full four person team but sent three players to the event who competed individually. Kami Wood, Greenlee Lindsey, and Amanda Dotter all took part in the 54 hole event. Wood and Lindsey finished in the top 10. The two were separated by just a single stroke. Wood's 174 saw her finish in 4th place while Lindsey's 175 landed her in a tie for 7th.

Moody commented, "For the ladies we had two ladies finish top 10. Both Kami and Greenlee had good final rounds and moved up the leader board on day 2!"

Both teams will be back on the links this upcoming Monday and Tuesday, playing at Prairie Dunes Country Club, in a tournament hosted by Sterling College.
