Tigers Split With KCC

Overland Park, Kan. – The Central Christian College softball team went on the road on Tuesday for a double header with the Kansas Christian College Falcons. The Tigers came home with a split, falling in game one, but bouncing back to win the series finale.

Game 1: L, 3-2

Game one was a really good game, some good pieces of hitting, and relatively clean defensive play from both teams. The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Karmen De la Cruz singled up the middle to drive in Ambery Barrera.

The Falcons responded in their half of the second with a pair of runs to take the lead 2-1. In the top of the third, Destiny Holt hit a double and drove in Ashley Vacarro to tie the game at 2. The Tiger nearly took the lead on the play, but Isabel Vaughn was thrown out at home plate trying to score from first base.

The Falcons went ahead 3-2 in the top of the fourth, and that would be all the scoring the rest of the way.

Hitting: The Tigers scored two runs on seven hits. Five of the seven were singles, the other two were doubles by Holt, and Olivia Roe.

Pitching: Madalyn Griffin was in the circle for the Tigers in game one. She pitched a superb game, allowing three runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
