McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College men's basketball team lost a shootout on Thursday night to the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lions 94-86.
Both teams were scoring at will in the first 20 minutes of action. The teams combined to hit 16 three pointers in the first half, and when the smoke cleared the Lions had an eight point lead, 51-43.

In the second half both teams cooled down a little bit. There were still 10 three pointers made, with the Tigers hitting six of them, but defensively the CCC men couldn't find a way to stop the Lions in the paint. For the game, the Lions scored 57 of their 94 points inside, out-scoring the Tigers by 26 points.

The Lions led by as many as 19 points in the second half, the Tigers finished strong and evened the scoring for the half at 43 points. Unfortunately the damage was done in the first half, and proved too much to overcome.

Coach Quote

"I was proud of the way our guys competed tonight.  We were down a starter and our guys kept battling throughout the game.  Offensively, we had one our best nights of the semester, when you shoot 16/29 from three, you hope to walk away with the win.  We just didn't have an answer the first half or the second half against their front line.  We had a lot of great individual performances tonight, I was especially pleased with Adrian and Demario's performances battling on the glass and their production throughout the night, they were both very efficient.  I just felt the difference in the game was in the paint and we just had too many costly turnovers that led to 27 points for SAGU.  We hope to bring a great effort for senior night on Saturday versus another quality opponent in UNTD." - Coach Tony Romero
