Tigers End Season with Win at SCU

Bethany, Okla. – The Central Christian College of Kansas Women's Volleyball team wrapped their regular season up with a match against Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma. The Tigers looked to continue their winning ways as they are coming off of a home win against Langston.

The Tigers were on the attack early, opening up the game on a 14-8 run until SCU recorded 6 straight points to tie the set at 14-14. From then on, it was a back-and-forth battle. Tied at 20, the Tigers scored five straight points to win the set and take a 1-0 advantage in the match. The second set was much of the same as the two teams traded points for most of the set. The Tigers would win the second set after scoring three straight points after being at set point in favor of SCU. This resulted in Central taking a 2-0 lead in the match and were looking to get out of Bethany with a win in straight sets.

The Eagles would not go down easy as they fought for each point in the third set. After scoring six points in a row, the Tigers took a 21-11 lead and were poised to finish off the Eagles. Now up 23-12, disaster struck for Central as they allowed 12 straight points to tie the set at 23-23. After trading points, the Eagles came out on top, 27-25 to force a fourth set.

Up 2-1 now, Central was feeling pressure to not let the match go to a fifth set as the Tigers are just 3-2 on the year when the match goes to five sets. The fourth set followed the past three with each team battling. Tied at 15-15 this was where Central distanced themselves from the Eagles by scoring eight unanswered points to take a 23-15 lead in the fourth set. The Tigers would finish off the Eagles winning the set 25-16 to win the match 3-1 in four sets.
