Plainview, Texas. – The Central Christian College men's soccer team fell to 0-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss on the road against Wayland Baptist University on Saturday.

The lone goal came in the 59th minute on a corner kick. The Tigers had the Pioneer who scored marked in the box, but he simply elevated over his defender, and headed the ball back to the far post past a diving Rodolfo Ramirez (Jr. Mission Viejo, Calif.) who was in goal for the Tigers.

The Pioneers had the advantage in total shots 16 to 9, and in shots on goal, 9 to 6. Ramirez finished the game with eight saves in the loss.

Coach Hoxie summed up the loss saying, "We lost today because of the details, such as playing soccer. We had everything else. Need to get back to executing what we practiced. All of us. Not just one or two. Finally, we need to clean up the non-sense. It's costing us potential wins, and it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth."

The loss drops the Tigers to 5-2-2 overall on the season. They are scheduled to be back on the pitch Tuesday, hosting the Texas Wesleyan University Rams at 3:00 pm. Incoming weather may force a time change. Stay tuned to https://ccctigers.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule for any changes.
