Sterling, Kan. – The Central Christian College men's basketball team wrapped up 2022 with a 75-68 loss on the road to the Sterling College Warriors, in a December 31
st non-conference tune-up before SAC play resumes this week.
A lot of things went right for the Tigers in the opening half, which led to a 14 point lead at one point in the period. By the end of the first half of play, they held on to a 10 point lead 39-29 over the Warriors.
In the second half, all that went right in the first 20 minutes of play went wrong in the final 20 minutes. Shots stopped falling (the Tigers shot 53% from deep in the first half, but just 20% in the second). In addition, Sterling's offense was poor in the first half, but found life in the second half. Added together and it was a recipe for a second half collapse leading to a 7 point loss.
By the Numbers
Offensively, the Tigers made 25 of 63 shots from the floor (40%)
They were 9 of 23 attempts from deep (39%).
At the free throw line they were 9 of 15 (60%).
The Tigers lost the turnover battle 10 to 8, but out-rebounded the Warriors 37 to 35.
Three Tigers scored in double figures, led by
Isaiah Rivera with 20.
