Fort Worth, Texas. – The Central Christian College men's soccer team was in action on Friday evening, on the road, against the Arlington Baptist University Patriots, an NCCAA division II school, in Arlington, Texas.
It was a rough day at the office for the Patriots who have fallen on some bad luck as of late, and at game time had only 10 healthy bodies to compete. Still, rather than forfeit the contest, they chose to gut it out. The Tigers were respectful to their opponents, doing their best to show up the Patriots. ABU was simply out matched, and the Tigers came off the pitch with a lopsided 18-0 win.
All the Tigers in uniform so significant minutes against the Patriots, and 10 different players found the back of the net. Four of those ten scored multiple goals, with
Nicholas Arenare leading the way with four tallies. Joining him with multiple goals was
Mattia Cola (3),
Johnny Rodriguez (3), and
Drew Schrader (2). The Tigers took a whopping 51 shots in the game, and placed 32 of them on frame.
Sebastian Herrera, and
Brandon Martinez split time in goal for the Tigers, with Herrera getting the start, and picking up his third win of the season.
Coach Hoxie commented on the win saying, "Good win from the boys tonight. These types of games can be difficult because the mind doesn't focus the way we would like. But I was happy that the guys were able to lock in and do what they are supposed to do. Got to turn around quickly and get prepared for Texas College tomorrow."
With the win, the Tigers are now 3-0-1 on the season. They will be back in action Saturday evening, taking on Texas College at 7:00 pm in Tyler, Texas.
