McPherson, Kan. – The Central Christian College volleyball team played host to the John Brown University Golden Eagles on Tuesday evening, falling in straight sets, 25-8, 25-23, 25-20.

The Tigers came out of the locker room flat, and the Golden Eagles took advantage. They opened the first set on an 8-0 run where the Tigers looked like they were trying to move in mud. The Tigers couldn't get anything going offensively in set number one and things went south quickly. The second set started out much like the first with the visitors opening on a 6-0 run. This time, the Tigers began to figure some things out on the offensive side of the ball and by the midway point of the set, had worked their way back into contention. The rest of the set was close, but JBU was able to edge out the Tigers 25-23.

The Tigers were competitive again in the final set, but just couldn't get over the hump. JBU stayed just out of reach, finishing of the sweep with a 25-20 win in set three.

Coach Quote

"In the first set it seemed like we were waiting to see what our opponents were going to do. By the second set, and after a couple changes, we competed to within two points and then carried that through to the final set. We will work harder to prepare so that we can compete every point from first to last. Some individuals competed well but unfortunately that's never good enough in volleyball. It takes everybody and tonight we didn't have everybody at their top performance."  – Coach Rick Hughes
