Hall of Fame basketball center Kareem Abdul Jabbar once said that, "One man can be a crucial ingredient on a team, but one man cannot make a team." And for those who follow the Central Christian Tigers Men's Basketball team know that this is a team made up of selfless individuals who will fight till the end for one another. This determination was on display again Saturday afternoon; however, the outcome was not what was desired with the Tigers losing a heartbreaker 84-82 to the Southwestern Christian University Eagles.
The Tigers got off to a sluggish offensive start but began to find their rhythm at the midway mark in the first half. Turnovers plagued the Tigers, and even though they were down by 8 at the 2:30 mark they found themselves with the lead 36-35 at halftime.
The second half found the Tigers down by 8 once again at the 14:00 mark; however offensively they began to share the wealth.
Byron Staten once again was an active force in the paint, and
Demario Moore with his quick release was locked in beyond the arch.
Several Tigers contributed whether offensively, or defensively and didn't let up until the final horn sounded.
The Tigers shot 29-66 from the field averaging 43%, which included going 8-28 from the arch, and making 16 of 24 from the free throw line, led by
Darrell Bryant coming off the bench with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
CCCK will try to get back into the win column as they travel to Oklahoma City, OK this Thursday, January 20
th to play the Stars of Oklahoma City University.
