Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer battles with Tabor at Home

MCPHERSON, Kansas – Lady Tigers finally got to get back on the home pitch since playing March 16th. The anticipation would be well worth it as 90 minutes wouldn't be enough to decide the game and Central Christian and Tabor College took this game the full 110 minutes.

It would truly be a tale of two halves as Central dominated the 1st half and scored within the first 4 minutes of the game by Lisette Whiteside. The Lady Tigers would outshoot the Blue Jays 10-5 and have 5 shots on goal compared to Tabor's lone shot on goal.

The 2nd half would be a completely different game as the Blue Jays would outshoot the Tigers 11-3 including their lone goal in the last seconds of the game to stun the Lady Tigers and force the first Overtime of the season.

The Tigers although frustrated about the late goal showed great resilience and kept the Blue Jays from scoring and GK Lizbeth Garcia came up with some crucial saves in the sudden death overtime period.
Neither Lady Tigers or the Blue Jays would come out on top of this match and after 110 minutes of play the game would go to a tie.

Up Next:

The Tigers (3-0-1) win streak would come to an end, but they still remain undefeated on the season and will prepare for a 4-game road trip beginning with Bethel College on Sept. 11th @ 10:30 AM.

Central Christian Quotes:
Head Coach Cole Ouren:
"Collectively as a team we are disappointed not to come away with a win. I thought we had a fantastic first half and we're unfortunate not to come away with at least one other goal then and again within over time."
"In spite of disappointment of giving up a late goal in the second half, the coaching staff is extremely proud of the character and resolve we showed. The team collectively rallied around each other, specifically those on the sidelines. This lead to us finding a little bit of rhythm again and getting out of heads."

"We talk a lot about our style of play and identity. While we struggled for large spells of the second half, I cannot applaud the team's quality enough in the first half as well as into overtime. I am excited to see how we take this game and apply the lessons throughout the season."

"And congratulations to Tabor who literally fought to the final whistle to find the equalizer with seconds left in the game. It was a great learning lesson for us but hats off to Tabor and coach Ian there"
