Tigers overpower short-staffed Warriors

MCPHERSON, Kansas – Tigers celebrated with 10 seniors today in their senior day matchup against the Bacone College Warriors.

The visiting Warriors entered today 0-7 and the Tigers entered at .500 with a 4-4 record needing some momentum heading in conference play.

Tigers would dominate the match from start to finish outscoring the Warriors 5-1, outshooting the Warriors 27-2, and had 11 SOG compared to Bacone's 1.

Carlos Arias would put the Tigers up after a pass from teammate Ayobami Onifade (AY). About 20 minutes later Drew Schrader would put one in the back of the net off a pass from Riccardo Di Vincenzo to put the Tigers up 2-0 and increasing his season total to 8 goals on the season. Shortly after Schrader's goal, Tyler Hoxie would net his 2nd goal of the season and put the Tigers up 3-0 through the 1st half.

During the 2nd half Johnny Rodriguez would finally break through and score his 5th goal of the season and put the Tigers up 4-0. The Tigers would go on a bit of a dry spell until Roberto Saldana in the 83' would shake multiple defenders and get the ball past the goalkeeper to put the Tigers up 5-0. The only bad thing to happen to the Tigers would happen in the 88' when a Bacone Forward hit a free kick and the ball glanced off the goalkeepers gloves and ruined the Tigers clean sheet. Nerveless, the Tigers walk away the victors 5-1 and head into conference with a 5-4 record.

Coaches Quote

Central Christian Head Coach Aaron Hoxie:
"Congratulations to our 10 seniors! It was a pleasure watching you guys be able to compete together in todays game. But it was a good game where we had chances to work on things that we naturally struggle with. Our style of play demands a lot from us so today we tried to slow things down, have a knock about, and see if we can create in a different way. We struggled but we also found success on several chances too, which was encouraging to see. At the end of the day, we had accomplished our objectives for the match, so that is a positive thing."
