Lady Tigers force 5th set, but come up short against the Lady Lions

MCPHERSON, Kansas – Lady Tigers come up just short to Langston University in 5 sets (17-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-27, 11-15) and will continue to look for that first conference win.

After being stunned by the Lady Lions in the first set, the Tigers came back with a 25-21 victory in set 2 and 25-17 victory in set 3.

Set 4 would prove to be the most exciting set as the Lions would build a 22-17 lead, but the Tigers would go on 5-0 run thanks to 2 red cards and some great rallies. The Lady Lions would build their lead back to 24-22 before the Tigers would score 3 unanswered points to put themselves ahead 25-24, but the Lady Lions would go on their own 3-0 run to take the set 27-25 and force a 5th set.

Set 5 would be really close as the Lions held the slight advantage mid-way through the set at 8-7. The Lions though would close out the set on a 7-4 run to win the set and game 3-2 over the Tigers.

Central Christian Quotes
Head Coach Rick Hughes:
"What a great match by both teams. The Tigers have played their best match of the season to this point. With the team firing on all cylinders it was a true team effort. With superb defensive effort, a lot of hard work, and the team supporting each other all the way through, they competed well and had a chance to win a tough match! Though we came up short we know that we have made huge strides and we know where to improve. This is a very exciting time in CCCK volleyball and this team is working hard every day!"
