MCPHERSON, Kansas – The Central Christian women's volleyball team competed in a triangular on Friday with Sterling College and SAGU. The Lady Tigers would then host Texas Wesleyan the following day and complete the 4-game home stand.
Friday night the Tigers opened against SAGU for the 1
st game of the triangular. SAGU would give the Tigers a tough match as they would never surpass 14 points in a set as SAGU swept the game (25-14, 25-11, 25-13). Game two against Sterling would start off a bit better for the Tigers as they would have a competitive first set in which the Warriors would scrape by and win the set 25-20. Tigers would score 14 and 16 for the next two sets as the Warriors complete the sweep of the Tigers.
Saturday was a rollercoaster of a day for the Tigers as they scored 7 & 10 points in the first two sets as it looked like the Tigers were going to hand the victory to the Rams. Lady Tigers would have something else in mind as they played their best set of the home stand and held the lead the entire set until the Rams were able to the lead at 24-23. Tigers would battle back and tie the game, but the Rams would score 2 points in a row to win set 3 (26-24) and the game (3-0).

Central Christian Quotes:
Head Coach
Rick Hughes
"Our defense is really keeping us in matches! The efforts of
Jacque Freeman, Jay Williams, and
Micaela Cornelius, with more and more contributions from newcomer
Arianna Roach, are resulting in long rallies and more points for the hard-working group. Add to that the arm swings of
Zola Moore &
Aijha Sampsell and we are really starting to shine as a team in our competitions. Contributing more and more each week, the young talent of
Aniya Owens and
Maria Hernandez are settling into their roles as they have been asked to play out of position this season. The team is also benefitting greatly from the all-around play of
McKenzee Cook and
Laykin Harkcom. Both players are setters and are doing a great job of running the team together from the back row while also contributing in the front row as hitters."
