McPherson, KS - The Central Christian Lady Tigers (12-30, 4-22 SAC) dropped all four games to the Mid-America Christian Evangels (27-11, 16-8 SAC). Tigers would only go 5 innings in their first three games as the Evangels would run-rule them 12-2, 11-1, and 11-3 before going into their first extra inning game on the year.
The Evangels look to make quick work of the Tigers after outscoring them 34-6 through the first three games. However, the Lady Tigers would save their best performance for last and shook the Evangels up in game four.
After Mid-America jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead through the first 2 innings, the Tigers responded with their biggest inning in the bottom of the 4
th to tie the game up 3-3. Then the Tigers would respond with another run in the bottom of the 5
th to take their first lead of the series.
Tigers would surrender a run in the top of the 6
th and the game would be a tie and for the first time this season the Tigers went into extra innings. The Evangels would have a timely homerun in the inning to spring to a 6-4 lead forcing the Tigers to score 2 runs to keep the game alive. The Tigers would move the "free baserunner" on 2
nd to 3
rd but the Evangels would record 3 outs before any runs were scored and Tigers dropped the finale 6-4 and couldn't escape the sweep.
Central Christian Quotes:
Head Coach
Aaron Annis
"Hannah did a great job pitching in that final game this weekend. Our defense made great plays to keep us in the game and our bats got us to play in the few innings. We just came up short in the end."
Go Tigers!
