April 9, 2021 - Oklahoma City, OK
The Sooner Athletic Conference Championship came down to penalty kicks to decide who will take the conferences automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament, with #2 Mid-America Christian prevailing 3-0 in the shoot out. The Tigers end their season after a glorious run to the final, another program first.
Coach Hoxie wanted to share some thoughts:
"We've got to be very proud of this team. They set out to accomplish a task tonight and played flawless. We executed the game plan 100%. Penalties are the most exciting spectacle in all of sport, yet it produces the most sorrow. I really feel for these kids. But...we didn't end the season on a loss, we shut out the #1 attacking team in the conference, #22 in the nation, on their own field. We just didn't advance in the tournament. A word to my 9 seniors...thanks for giving me your very best."
"Final shout out to the crowd tonight. There must have been 200 people there. It was an excellent atmosphere, loud and boisterous, it has been missed. Thanks to all of the students who made the trip to support us. Thanks to all of the family, friends, and alumni who watched and cheered us from afar. This has been a great run. Love you all."
