TIGERS DROP DOUBLE HEADER TO MCPHERSON BULLDOGS

McPherson, KS – For the first time this year the Central Christian Tigers baseball team and McPherson Bulldogs baseball team played each other in a double header matchup.

Coach McNett and the Tigers would have their hands full with McPherson who has got off to a great start this year at 18-2 and currently sit #2 in the KCAC. Tigers have got off to a 4-14 start to the season and currently sit 9th in the SAC.

Tigers would enter this game with some momentum after a 9-6 victory over SAC opponent OPSU.

Game One
Tigers would have a solid 5.0 innings that they would only allow 1 run, the only caveat would be the other 2.0 innings they would give up 13 runs (2nd and 3rd inning).
Elliot Castorena would get the nod in game one. He would go 1.2 innings, yielding 6 runs (5 earned), on 6 hits, with 2 walks and fanning 2. Tigers would throw a total of 4 more pitchers that would go 4.1 innings, yielding 8 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and fanning 8. Castorena would pick up the loss on the game.

Tigers offense would get 1 run on 2 hits (Patrick Median 1-3 2B, & Justin Freas 1-2 RBI), draw 5 walks and struck out 10 times.

Game Two
Tigers would improve the overall score in the 2nd game, but still fall short 8-1 in the contest as they drop both games in the double header.

Joseph Esparza got the go ahead to pitch game two. He would go 2.0 innings, yielding 3 runs on 2 hits and allowed 3 walks. Michael Pedraza would come in for relief for 1.2 innings yielding 5 runs on 2 hits, with 4 walks and fanned 2 batters. Tigers from their would get the game scoreless in 2.2 innings of work with only 1 hit allowed with 3 walks.

Tigers lone run would come in the 6th inning on an RBI hit by Patrick Medina.

Tigers would have a better game at the plate with 7 hits, including 4 extra base hits. Tigers offense would be led by Patrick Medina (2-3 2B RBI), Josh Clyden (2-4 2B), and Koki Matsuda (2-4 2B, SB)
Tigers will shift their focus on SAC opponent Wayland Baptist, who will come into town on March 19th -20th in a three game series.
