McPherson, Kansas - Freshman Women's Wrestler Haley Schafer recently achieved national recognition as the 7th ranked wrestler in the NAIA for her weight class. A local wrestler of McPherson, Schafer recently made her transition to the Tigers at the beginning of the spring semester. In the short time she has been here Haley has made a huge impact on the Lady Tigers culminating with her recent success as a nationally-ranked wrestler.
When asked about Haley's time with the Tigers so far, Coach
Don Schreimann said,
"Haley is an awesome athlete. She really didn't have a background in freestyle wrestling and, in fact, didn't get to wrestle her senior year in high school because of a broken ankle. She came into our room with an intensity to learn and has really improved every day. She is a true joy to coach."
