MCPHERSON, Kansas – For the first time since joining the Sooner Athletic Conference the Tigers have beat the Drovers, after their previous 3-1 meeting.
Tigers are 2-1 in their last 3 SAC matches, in a crucial race for the SAC tournament concluding after Oct. 30
th. With only 2 more matches remaining the Tigers will be looking to finish their season off on a strong note.
Drew Schrader would have the ice breaker in this match with an assist from
Johnny Rodriguez in the 13' minute to put the Tigers up early 1-0. This lead held up through the first half as both goalies kept the ball from the back on the net.
Second half started great for the Tigers, as
Riccardo Di Vincenzo put the ball in the box and
Johnny Rodriguez flicked the ball with the back of his foot past the goal keeper and put the Tigers up 2-0. Shortly after the Tigers will the momentum and forcing the Drovers to be more aggressive took advantage of the Drovers riskiness and
Gabriel Curioso added to the Tiger lead, 3-0 thru 53' minutes.
The only mistake for the Tigers would come in the 69' minute after a penalty in the box led to a PK from the Drovers, and they put the kick just out of the reach of the Tigers GK to cut the deficit to 3-1. Tigers held the Drovers at bay, as the game remained scoreless after that point, resulting in a 3-1 Tigers victory.

Head Coach
Aaron Hoxie:
"The key to this game was the first goal, which obviously fell our way. That settled the nerves and instilled a sense of belief. After that, there wasn't much in the game outside of a goal called back for offside, and Seba point blank kick save. What a save that. Game changing player."
"In the 2nd half, we were able to capitalize on a couple of set pieces. Not pretty but it doesn't matter…the 3-0 lead was new territory for us against these guys. After their goal, the game was predictable. The key was getting our guys into the right position to win the first and second ball, which we did for the most part. When we didn't the pressure was good enough to keep the attackers off balance. At that point, it was just about watching the clock tick while winning all the headers. Absolutely, brilliant game from our back line today. They competed fiercely and represented themselves well. They built a strong wall today and were supported nicely by the MF."
"Overall, very pleased with the guys. Feels good to be on the winning side of a close game this time. We'll take an evening to celebrate, reasonably, and we'll be back at it for Wednesday's match."
