Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Tigers dominate Langston on the road!

McPherson, KS – Men's Basketball wins their 2nd straight SAC game and extend their winning streak to 6 games.

Tigers knew they would have a challenge on their hands anytime they travel in the SAC and Langston's court is typically one of the hardest places to win. Last time Tigers make the trip they barley came out on the winning side with a 90-87 victory.

The script would be played out early with both teams trying to get the leg up on the other. Tigers would hold a lead for most of the 1st half, but wouldn't be able to keep the Lions away. The Lion's would completely erase any deficit they had and closed the half getting the score tied at 36-36.

Lions, having a bit of momentum from the previous half would try to hurry and upset the Tigers hopes of a road win and stun the hot Tigers. Coach Romero and the Tigers would have other plans, thanks to some consistent 3 point shooting the Tigers would constantly pressure the Lions to keep up and never had to fight from behind.

The Tiger's would find themselves with a double digit lead with just under 10 minutes remaining. Lion's would go away easily however and during the next 5 minutes the lead would dwindle to only 5 points, but unfortunately for them the Tigers would continue to knock down the clutch 3's and keep the Lion's from their grasp. The Tigers would be able to handle anything the Lions threw at them and would continue to have efficient possessions and come away with a huge road win against Langston University.

"Our guys showed some grit tonight on the road.  I really was pleased with our focus in the second half. The first half, I felt like we were not very tough defensively in the paint or on the perimeter.   We were able to make some adjustments at halftime and the guys did a heck of job carrying those out throughout the second half.   We feel our identity is on the defensive side of the ball, and our guys bought into making Langston really work after the break.  Byron and Ray had their best games of the season, doing a good job in the paint.   Our guard play continues to be diverse and balanced.  This is a tough stretch for our team, playing 6 games in the next 11 days.  We will enjoy this tonight and get prepared for two more this week." - HC Tony Romero

Tigers stay unbeaten in the SAC and improve to 8-1 (2-0 SAC).

Go Tigers!
