McPherson, Kansas – Tigers would start the New Year off just like they ended the last one with a victory. Tigers would play their first match since November 28
th and the offense had their best performance of the season. The Tigers would eclipse 100 points to take a 101-82 victory.
Although the score looks like the Tigers might have had an easy victory the Tigers needed every last one of their points tonight. After a solid offensive and defensive 1
st half in which the Tigers found themselves up 46-23, the Patriots wouldn't go away and turned the 2
nd half into a shootout. The Patriots would nearly triple their 1
st half points with an incredible 59 points, the Tigers however would show resilience and composure in which they scored an impressive 55 points to keep the game out of reach.
The Tigers would never let go of their double digit lead that was built in the first half, their lead would fluctuate as high as 30 points and as low as 15, but never got too worrisome for the Tiger Squad.
Reece Warren would lead the Tiger team with an impressive 29 points including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Isaiah Rivera would add an additional 17 points and 7 assist,
Darrell Bryant would continue his impressive season with 16 points and 8 boards,
Kenzell Williams would have a season high 11 points,
Byron Staten would score a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards, and to round out the Tigers in double figures would be
Ronald Jamierson with 10 points.
Head Men's Basketball Coach
Tony Romero on today's performance:
"After such a long layoff, I was very pleased with our guys effort all week long in practice. I think that carried over to having a good first 25-27 minutes of basketball for us. We had some really good possessions the first half on both sides of the basketball. I think we wore down a bit the second half, especially on the defensive side of the ball, we fouled a lot and lacked discipline. We had really good balance today. A lot to learn from, we will watch some film tomorrow and get ready for Monday."
Tigers improve to 4-1 on the season and 4-0 all-time against Baptist Bible College. Tigers will be hosting Manhattan Christian College on the 4
th in their last game before conference play.
Go Tigers!
