Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tigers shutout the visiting Thunder

McPherson, KS September 15th, 2020

Tigers get a hard earned shutout and victory over the Thunder as they win 6-0. Last time in action the Tigers were able to take care of a historically good CBC team 4-1 and they made sure to pick up where they left off as Tigers get 6 goals and 5 assist on the night.

Felipe Da Costa Evangelista (2), Drew Schrader, and Ismael Valverde Karduchi would all score in the 1st half to give the Tigers a comfortable 4-0 lead at half. The Tigers would dominate the first half as they would have 12 shots and Thunder would only get off 2 shots in the half. At the beginning of the 2nd half the Thunder would start to bring the pressure and try to get some momentum, the Tigers would be resilient and keep the Thunder off the board and Drew Schrader and Leslie Feh would add two more insurance goals to give the Tigers a 6-0 win.

The defense would look a bit different for the Tigers as Caleb Page would get the start in the box and would get the 1st shutout victory of the year for the Tigers after some clutch saves that kept the shutout alive. The Tiger defense also did a good job on limiting opportunities for the Thunder and controlling the momentum of the game.

Coach Hoxie had this to say on the performance tonight:

"Good game from the guys tonight. We really focused on a couple of different aspects of attacking with our starting lineup. I was very happy in how they connected with each other and created the necessary spaces to move into."

"We were a little bit sloppy to start the second half but they were able to work themselves out of it, which is important to experience this for the stretch run. A shut out is nice too. Credit to the kids at Manhattan. They compete their socks off every minute and that's an attribute I expect from them each year."

Tigers will be back in action September 22nd as they travel to Oklahoma to take on Bacone College.

Go Tigers!
