Men's Summary:
CCC's Eliud Ngetich and Joel Allen from Tabor had a great battle throughout the race, with Allen leading most of it while Eliud chased. On the final straightaway Eliud showed his track speed and made up the 10 second gap to pass Allen convincingly. It looked like enough to win, but unfortunately Ngetich stopped just before finish and was nabbed at the line by .25 seconds. Final time 26:14 was a solid rust-buster, averaging 5:17 per mile.
Others competing for Central were Ray Anderson(31:29), Josh Melton (38:48), and David Noren (42:03). The 8k race was a first for this walk-on trio, and they are excited to begin training for the conference meet.
Women's Summary:
Becca Way, competing unattached until her Eligibility is cleared, crossed first for the Lady Tigers in 22:15. She was followed by Taylor Arnold (24:13) and Elyse Merritt (25:35). With only a month of training before the race, the results show great promise for this group.
